For Madisonites who recently have had to dodge baseball-size hail, exercise relief is in sight in the form of Fontana Sports $5 5K.
Our weekly trots out of the doors of Fontana Sports (216 Henry Street) will begin Wednesday, May 6 at 5:30 p.m., and will run (walk or stroll) weekly through the end of October.
May is the opening month of the 2026 Fontana Run schedule that features a trek down State Street and then ventures along the beautiful shores of Lake Mendota while traveling on the Lakeshore Path for a three-mile round-trip jaunt.
A Fontana Run tradition is to stop at the Bucky Badger statue near the UW Alumni House for a group photo.
The brainchild of Fontana owner Elizabeth Ganser, the Fontana Run will once again provide us with the opportunity to get some exercise and fresh air while also contributing to non-profits around the Madison area.
As the leader of the Fontana runs, I can vouch for the fun of the run and the beauty of the route that can only be realized in Madison.
